Veronica spicata 'Purpleicious'

Spike Speedwell

Veronica 'Purpleicious'

Deciduous Perennial

Veronica spicata 'Purpleicious' is a bushy, erect cultivar of speedwell that produces dense, tapered, dark purple flower spikes in late spring to mid-summer. The plant can grow to 16–20 in tall, with leafy foliage stems that are usually 6–8 in tall. The leaves are medium green, narrow, and lance-shaped, and can grow up to 2 in long.

Spiked speedwell is attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies, but deer and rabbits tend to overlook it. It can tolerate hot, dry sites, salt, and partial shade, but blooms best in full sun for at least six hours. This plant is also healthy, disease-free, and low maintenance, making it a good choice for cut flowers.
