Seasonal Blooms with Fab Foliage for Year-round Beauty

This vignette is anchored by four shrubs that come to the fore at different times of the year to provide a progression of blooms and fab foliage. Year-round interest includes the unique Mahonia gracilipes with its bold, toothy foliage, lit from below with white indumentum. The cascading form of Chamaecyparis n. 'Green Arrow' is perfect for bringing vertical lift and division of space, its narrow profile is especially useful in small gardens.

Flowering shrubs add further interest from spring to fall; Corylopsis pauciflora kicks off the show with pendant yellow blooms on bare branch in early spring; in summer the hydrangea takes up the challenge and adds color until fall, complemented on the ground plane by a unique hardy geranium with dark foliage and pink blooms.

On the ground, the evergreen story continues with large heart shaped leaves of the variegated ginger (Asarum s. 'Quicksilver') tumbling about with wispy foliage of Carex comans 'Frosty Curls'.
