Dusky Combo with Dark Foliage and Flowers

Bold, strappy foliage of Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy' is especially dark in spring to early summer and with the luscious red blooms of American Revolution daylily, they make a sultry duo. Geranium 'Ann Folkard', dotted with a seemingly endless supply of vivid magenta blooms with a dark eye, weaves, traipses and trails over, around and through the entire scene. Her golden foliage, especially vivid on new growth is a bright contrast to the dark tones of this pairing. The tall blooming stems of Stipa gigantea provide an upward lift, bringing movement and an overall lightness to the scene. This grass is especially effective when backlit, catching and reflecting the late season light. This plant combo does best in full sun, well draining soil and has average to low water needs.
